6 Weeks Postpartum

I went over my due date by 4 days, and Rowyn Stanley Wyss was born in the early morning hours on March 10th, just 2 days before his big brother Myles turned 2.  My water broke at 2:12am, which began labor, and by 3:14am, Rowyn was here!  That was the fastest labor yet for me, but the post-delivery was my worst experience this time around.
I am FINALLY able to run mostly without pain.  I haven’t been able to swim again yet due to him not being able to take a morning nap like the others did so he can sit by my lane.  Since he is 6 weeks old now though, I can leave him at the drop-in childcare, so I at least have the choice to start swimming again.  Beyond being on a spin bike a few times for track workouts, I haven’t been biking.  Long story short, I am IMMENSELY relieved that I had already planned to not race triathlons this year.  I would otherwise be, no doubt, freaking out and depressed.  With the other kids, I did my weekday rides on the trainer during nap time, but Rowyn takes one big nap a day and it is during practice time.  So I can workout now during practice (hopefully without pain and improving everyday!) but some days are overrun by just coaching too.
I’ve started some lighter weight lifting and returned to the Crossfit workouts when I’ve had the opportunity, and I’ve done a little bit of pole vault from a short approach.  I’m anxious to get back into it.  I’ve tried to be really patient, but my patience is definitely wearing thin at this point!  I’m just ready for my body to get back to 100% and to find the opportunities to get fit again.
Baya and Myles absolutely love their new baby brother, and the transition from 2 kids to 3 has thus far seemed easier than the transition from 1 to 2.  Possibly because the second was Myles… or that I’m way less stressed now that I am not putting pressure on myself with races looming in the near future.  I AM planning to pole vault this summer at a couple “street vaults” and at least one or 2 track meets.  It’ll be exciting for sure!
